George Seminary – Started with only 27 pupils on the rolls on 2. 1. 12 in a rented building near Tarajan. Founder – Late Upendranath Barooah. In August, 1913 removed to the Assamese Theatre Hall, then under construction In 1914 its own building was constructed in a piece of land kindly leased out by late Rajkumar Chandra Narayan Singh, situated in front of the Assamese Theatre Hall where the Shankar Talkie Hall now stands.
In 1915 shifted to its own buildings. Inspite of its rapid growth, it failed to receive recognition from the Calcutta University. Badly affected by the Cunningham Circular. At Last reduced M.E. Standard. Town M.E. School – Started by shri Biman Barua on 2. 1. 24 with only 24 pupils on the rolls. In the Assam Middle School Examination held for the first time in December, 1927, 5 boys passed out of 5 sent up, 4 being placed in the first division, Shri Hem Borua M. P., Principal of the B. Barooah College, Guwahati being one of them. Permanent recognition given by Mr. G. A. Small, D. P. I., Assam from January, 1928
